RCom to deliver books via SMS
Value Added Services (VAS) has been aptly termed the next big thing in the telecom space. With the calling rates getting slashed and the space getting crowded, VAS might just be the determining factor for the success of Telecom Service Providers.
Vodafone and Airtel have been pretty active with their VAS initiatives, but this move by RCOM might just be the cherry on the cake.
Moving beyond the usual ringtone, theme, cricket/ joke updates, Reliance Communications will next month launch a mobile phone-based novel, Deaf Heaven , authored by award-winning writer Pinki Virani.
The subscriber will get to read the book in the form of SMS. The book will be packed in a set of 90 SMS messages priced at Rs 30 and made available through an specially-created SMS subscription pack. Source:
