WORLD-CLASS ROYAL CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL TAKING SHAPE
State Member for Richmond, Richard Wynne MP, announced that the Brumby Labor Government’s new $1 billion Royal Children’s Hospital is taking shape 16 months after construction began and is on track to open on schedule by 2011.
The Brumby Government is taking action to revitalise our hospitals and improve access to vital health services for all Victorians, especially our sickest children and their families.
This state-of-the-art landmark hospital, that is expected to create up to 1500 jobs at the peak of construction, is both on time and on budget.
The new hospital, set to be completed in December 2011, will treat an extra 35,000 young patients.
85 per cent of beds will be in single rooms, providing more privacy for patients and families – the highest percentage of any public hospital in Australia.
