Despite it being holiday month, we’re still here to bring ten of the mobile phone related news stories you may have missed this week, starting with a green Samsung that’s, um, green.
1. Samsung Launch Bio-degradable Reclaim.
The Samsung Reclaim is being launched in the USA and although it’s a basic QWERTY slider with a 2 megapixel camera, the phone is built from 80% bio-degradable materials, with 40% of the handsets construction coming from corn-derived bio-plastics. It also beeps to let you know when the battery is fully charged, so you don’t consume more power than needed.
The next version of Symbian looks likely to break compatibility with devices running S60, forcing developers to re-write existing code to ensure smooth running on Symbian^4, due sometime in 2011. This interesting interview with David Wood tells more.
