In documentation found on the developer web site , Sony Ericsson said it will share 70 percent of revenues with developers, like Apple ( NSDQ: AAPL ), but when it comes to pricing, it will follow Research In Motion's decision in setting a minimum price point. Sony Ericsson has set the minimum to EUR 3.00, which is in line with BlackBerry App World's $2.99 minimum. Sony Ericsson also allows apps to be given away for free, but if the developer would like to incorporate advertising, it "will require a separate distribution agreement between developer and Sony Ericsson."
In addition, Sony Ericsson said there will be no charge to submit the app and there will be no annual fees to participate. Initially, apps will be accepted for the Java ME and Symbian native (S60 5th Edition) platforms. More platforms will be supported later this year. Applications will be accepted for both the PlayNow arena, which is the company's full multimedia marketplace that was launched in 2008, and the older Fun & Downloads storefront, which was launched in 2003 and focuses more on mobile content, such as ringtones and wallpapers.
